Qatar National Day 2020

The State of Qatar celebrates its National Day on the 18th of December every year to mark the ascension of Sheikh Jassem bin Mohammed bin Thani to the throne.  Sheikh Jassem unified the country in 1878 and laid its modern state foundations. He turned Qatar into a single, coherent and independent country. The National Day celebrates belongingness and loyalty to the homeland, solidarity, unity, and pride in the national identity of the State of Qatar.

Qatar has one of the world’s strongest economies and ranks among the top world economies. It enables Qatar to expand its development plans and investments in all domains: industrial, economic and scientific research, both domestically and abroad which is utilized in the development of mega projects ranging from infrastructure to industry, while supporting foreign investments and the private sector. Tourism in Qatar is considered a strong contributor to the economy and stands as a manifestation of the country’s modernity. Sports take the lead with international events ranging from horse and camel racing to speed boating. Qatar will also host the FIFA 2022 World Cup Finals, making it the first Arab country to organize the event.

Since the establishment of bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of North Macedonia in 1996, the two countries have increased cooperation on various levels and signed a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding to help promote and protect investment, avoid tax overlap and enhance bilateral trade, economic, cultural, political, scientific and developmental relations in addition to technological cooperation and experience exchange.

Following its National Vision 2030, Qatar acts as an active and responsible member within the international community. contributing to international peace and security through political, economic, development and humanitarian initiatives.
