The Diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of North Macedonia  started in the year 1996, by signing  a mutual agreement to establish the diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia in Doha was opened in 2006.

The Embassy of the State of Qatar was opened in the capital Skopje in November 2012, becoming the first  Arab embassy in the Republic of North Macedonia.

H.E. Hassan Bin Abdulla Al-Mahmoud was appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Republic of North Macedonia and he presented his Letters of Credence on September 27, 2013, accrediting him as the First Resident Ambassador of the State of Qatar in the Republic of North Macedonia .
