The Bilateral Macedonian-Qatari relations in both Doha and Skopje are described as friendly relations based on mutual respect since the signing of a joint statement on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of North Macedonia on 25 June 1996 in New York.
The strong political and economic relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of North Macedonia have crystallized through mutual official visits of the two leaderships and senior officials of the two countries. During the official visits, the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of supporting and developing them in all fields, were reviewed.
The cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Republic of North Macedonia has been significantly enhanced since the visit of His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani to the Republic of North Macedonia in October 2011, which culminated in the signing of a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding. This visit gave a substantial advance towards to the activation of the cooperation between the two countries and eventually resulted towards the opening of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the Republic of North Macedonia on 24/11/2012.
